Kelly’s happy for Beyoncé
July 24th, 2008

Kelly Rowland has been showing nothing but love for her good pal Beyoncé.

The singer, who’s become a regular fixture on the UK celebrity circuit, didn’t give too much away about the reported marriage between Jay-Z and her former band-mate after Snoop Dogg recently said it was time the pair should start a family.

But Kelly did reveal Beyoncé’s working on a new album, which would be a follow-up to 2006’s B’Day. (Full Story)

Kelly Rowland seeks words of wisdom
July 20th, 2008

When Kelly Rowland co-wrote Work, her recent top-10 hit single, there was one person she had to consult over the racy lyrical content - her mum.

“If I was going to be singing, Put it in and Do it, baby, I needed to make sure my mama was happy.

“Part of me was thinking, I don’t wanna talk about that stuff,” she says mock-tearfully.

“I asked her if she thought it was too much. She said to me, ‘Girl, you’re past 21, you can sing about whatever you want. If I says it’s fine, it’s fine.’ (Full Story)

Kelly puts the Work in
June 6th, 2008

Kelly Rowland explains why, after her songs were leaked, she’ll be staying in control of everything from now on, everything except where to get a boyfriend.
Some people have called the lyrics to your single Work (‘‘put it in, do it baby, do it do it baby”) porn-like. Discuss.

No! I was in the studio with Scott Storch and Poo Bear, who wrote the song. Poo showed me ‘‘Put it in!” and I said, ‘‘I’m not singing that!” He said he meant, ‘‘This guy’s got to put in work to get a girl like you” and I said, ‘‘You know exactly what you’re doing” and he’s like, ‘‘Yeah and you’re gonna sing it!” All I could think was ‘‘What is my momma gonna think?”

What did your momma think?

I rang her and told her the lyrics and gave her the gist of the song and she said, ‘‘Girl, you’re past 21”. As long as my momma has no problem with it then that’s all that counts. (Full Story)

Sex and City not this child’s destiny
    June 3rd, 2008

Former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland says she cried when told she had missed out on a part in the new Sex and the City movie.

The US singer said she auditioned for the role of Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant in the new film.

The part was won by American Idol star Jennifer Hudson, who starred with Rowland’s band mate Beyonce in Dreamgirls.

“The movie’s awesome,” Rowland, 27, said. (Full Story)

No “Sex In The City” for Kelly
    May 22nd, 2008

R&B star Kelly Rowland has been left pondering the existence of a Jennifer Hudson curse on her and her Destiny’s Child bandmates, after losing out to the Oscar winner for a role in Sex And The City: The Movie.

Hudson landed the role of Louise, the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw, after fighting off competition from singer/actress Rowland.
And the “Dilemma” hitmaker was stunned to hear she had lost out on the movie opportunity, because she was convinced she had it in the bag.

    Kelly penning a children’s book
    May 19th, 2008

American R&B singer Kelly Rowland is trying her hand at something other than music – a children’s book.
The 27-year-old former Destiny’s Child singer revealed that she is looking into other ventures besides singing, and writing a children’s book is one of them.
“I’m getting into different ventures. I’m in the process of writing a children’s book,” People quoted her, as saying.
The book is still under works and has not been given a title as yet, as she has just started working on it.
“Everything is confidential right now, but I’m really excited because I’ve talked to some different publishing companies and got some people interested,” she said.
